Audrey Lee Owens, 84, of Clayton, Georgia died at home on 07/19/20 after a long illness surrounded by family. She was born March 13, 1936 in Arlington, Virginia and was the oldest of three children of Ada Gorham. She graduated from Falls Church High School in 1956. She married Cody Wayco Owens June 28, 1956 and was his faithful wife until his death April 4, 2006. Audrey worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Highlands Cashiers Hospital and helped with hospital laundry and housekeeping for 17 years. She was also a loving housewife, mother, and “granny.” Audrey’s contagious laugh and smile as well as her sharp wit will be missed.

Mrs. Owens was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses August 10, 2014 and was a faithful member of the Cashiers North Carolina congregation. She enjoyed music and dancing and also loved to be with and help people in many capacities.

She is survived by her sister Mary Seymour and brother Tommy Gorham and her sons, Jimmy, Eddie, and Cody and daughters Susie, Cindy, Lisa, and Kathy (James William Gorham, Edward Lee Owens, Cody Wayco Owens, Susan Owens Whitaker, Cynthia Owens Snowden, Arlisa Owens Chapman and Katherine Elizabeth Owens). She had 32 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Due to COVID-19, there will be no visitation or formal burial service. An online (Zoom) memorial service will be held on 07/25/20 at 10:00 a.m. Those interested in observing can send your email to weloveaudreyowens@gmail.com and you will be sent the link and password to join the memorial for Saturday.
